In 2010 she founded Freedom Charity – a charity that works relentlessly to protect the lives of children and young people by raising awareness of forced marriage, FGM and modern-day slavery in the UK. She has served as a Magistrate in London for more than two decades, was influential in the change in legislation on 16th June 2014 that made forcing someone into marriage a criminal offence, and in the crucial 2015 amendments to the Act covering FGM issues.
