On a Bet and a Prayer tells the story of a young woman who embarks on a journey of adventure, excitement and hard work. From the vibrant city of Lagos to the suburbs of Essex – Mary Stretch (then known as Pett), navigates a world full of glass ceilings to become (among other pioneering roles) one of the first black female producer/presenters on BBC radio and television.
